History, landmarks, interesting facts:
Originally settled in 1750 at the junction of the Mad river and Still River Winsted was one of the first mill towns in Connecticut.In 1955 two hurricanes hit Winsted within a week of one another and caused the Rivers to flood.
Northwestern Connecticut Community College was founded in Winsted in 1965 by Residents (including Ralph Nader's brother).
